Methods

At rested baseline and again following 53.5 hours of continuous wakefulness, participants were presented with a series of scenarios that included NM, MI, and MP dilemmas. For each dilemma, a solution was proposed, and the volunteer was required to judge whether that solution was “appropriate” or “inappropriate” given the contingencies present in the situation.

Participants of the study were tested on different scenarios which included non-moral, moral impersonal, and moral personal dilemmas when they were fully rested and when they had been awake for 53.5 hours straight. Based on the scenarios present, participants were given the solutions for each dilemma, and they were asked if the solution was appropriate or not.

It would be interesting to see if similar results are produced if the study is done on older age group (35-50 years) because of their more life experiences.

It was difficult to understand why emotional intelligence was included in the study and how the participants were categorized into high and low emotional intelligent groups.
