Included in the study were patients aged 18 – 65 diagnosed with anxiety disorders using Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental disorders (DSM-IV and V), including panic disorder (PD; DSM 300.01), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD; DSM 300.02) and anxiety not otherwise specified (NOS; DSM 300.00).

This study included patients aged 18-65 with anxiety disorders that were diagnosed using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, which included panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and anxiety not otherwise specified.

Introduction:

Moreover, research on different types of exercise and dose-responses is sparse and interventional studies have rarely been conclusive (Jayakody, 2014; Lucibello, 2020; Wipfli, 2008). There is clearly a need for high-quality RCTs and effective exercise treatment protocols for patients with anxiety disorders.
- Write your translation on the next line:
There is not much research on how different types and amounts of exercise affect anxiety symptoms, and existing studies have often produced unclear results. There is a need for high-quality studies that determine effective exercise programs as a treatment option for people dealing with anxiety disorders.
Results
Results:
- Paste quoted text from the Results section in the article on the next line. Do not include quotation marks:
Descriptive frequencies for the dichotomized BAI variable (improvement/no improvement) are shown in Table 2. In fully adjusted models the OR for improved symptoms of anxiety for low-intensity exercise was 3.62 (CI 1.34–9.76) and for moderate/high intensity 4.88 (CI 1.66–14.39) (Table 3).
- Write your translation on the next line:
The researchers in this study compared participants who showed improvement in anxiety symptoms with those who showed no improvement. They found that both exercise groups were more likely to experience reduced anxiety symptoms than those in the control group, with the moderate/high intensity exercise group showing the greatest improvement.
Discussion
Discussion:
- Paste quoted text from the Discussion section of the article on the next line. Do not include quotation marks:
This parallel RCT study of primary care patients with anxiety disorders supports an exercise intensity trend for improved anxiety symptoms but does not indicate large differences in effect sizes between low and higher intensities. The present study shows that both low- and moderate/high intensity exercise interventions improved anxiety symptoms at follow-up.
- Write your translation on the next line:
In this randomized controlled study of primary care patients with anxiety disorders, there was no large difference between lower and higher intensity exercise for improving anxiety symptoms. This study also shows that both lower and moderate/higher intensity exercise improved anxiety symptoms after treatment.
Future Directions
Future Directions:
- What future research should follow up on this work?
Future research should look at how guided exercise works for specific anxiety disorders, compare the effects of exercise in short-term and long-term anxiety conditions, and investigate the best exercise intensity for reducing anxiety symptoms. It could also examine the effects of exercising outdoors compared to indoors and if there is any difference between the two for reducing anxiety symptoms.
Difficult Material
Difficult Material:
- What did you not understand about this paper that someone else may be able to help you with? Or, if you understood everything, what did you find most challenging to understand?
This paper was very good at explaining what all the different abbreviations were, but the part that I found most challenging to interpret was Table 1 as it showed a lot of statistics that kept showing up throughout the whole Results section. Figure 2A was also challenging to understand because it again showed lots of statistical information such as p-values and confidence intervals that were used to determine whether their results were statistically significant.

There are also limitations. As mentioned above, participants in the exercise interventions groups may have benefited from time with attention and social interaction provided by the physiotherapist and other group members and a time-matched, active control group might have been more suitable.
·Write your translation on the next line:
The researchers noted that some of the advantages found within the exercise groups could be attributed to something beyond exercise alone. Participants were also able to spend time with supportive physiotherapists and others within the group, which may have contributed to the alleviation of anxiety symptoms. Thus, further research should employ a control group to establish whether the improvements are due to exercise or to the social contact that exercise provides.
Additional Future Directions:
·What future research do you think should follow up on this work?
Future studies could offer additional evidence by observing the effects of exercise on anxiety over a 6-month or 1-year period after the end of the exercise treatment. In addition, researchers could compare individual exercise program with group exercise program to find out if the mental health benefits are due to the social interaction during the exercise.

·Please try to explain the difficult materials to the original poster, as best as you can. (This is where you can help them understand what they found difficult.)
Table 1 primarily gives background data about the participants prior to the intervention. It is useful for readers to know if the three populations were similar prior to treatment. The effect of exercise on anxiety and depression symptoms is illustrated in figure 2A. The p values are used to determine if any observed differences are likely to be due to chance, and the confidence intervals are used to determine the range in which you can expect the true effect to fall. The result is generally considered statistically significant when the p value is less than 0.05. Exercise had a significant positive impact on the symptoms of anxiety and depression in this study, with the exercise groups demonstrating significantly larger reductions in these symptoms than the control group.
New Difficult Material (according to you):
·What did you not understand about this paper, that someone else can help with? If you understood everything, then what did you find most challenging to understand?
The most difficult part of this paper was the ability to comprehend the logistic regression models and odds ratios given in table 3. I knew that odds ratios would be higher if there was a higher chance of the symptoms improving, but the results were not easy to interpret as to how variation in the different adjustment models affected the results, and how the researchers have adjusted for other factors like medication used, depression, smoking and physical activity.
