Discussion

The poor mental health status of nurses in the operating room will have a negative impact on their personal and medical behavior. For nurses themselves, poor mental health may affect sleep, and poor sleep quality will in turn affect their mental health, forming a vicious circle and doing harm to their physical and mental health.

The negatively impacted mental state of nurses in operating rooms will in fact have a negative effect on both their personal and medical behaviours. This can result in poor sleep quality, leading to further effects on their mental health. This suggests a never ending cycle of harm to both their physical and mental health.

Future Directions

I think it would be interesting to look into the personal lives of these nurses. If they have family, friends and/or activities around them on a consistent basis. I think it would be interesting to look at because it would determine if nurses who have some sort of outlet have better or worse mental conditions. It is known that community is good for people who are under pressure in other areas of their lives. I would like to know the real impact on the people who endure the most (health professionals, especially nurses).

Difficult Material

I did not understand why the survey had to be completed within three days of the questionnaire. I think gathering data over a longer period of time would have yielded more accurate results. It would have given researchers a wider scope of the actual environment and state of mind of participants. Limiting it to a 3 day span could yield inaccurate results as many nurses could have had a bad week or a tough time temporarily. I think completing multiple surveys over a longer period of time would have been the best.
