Methods
After obtaining informed consent, 23 parents (27 %) had to wait for the treatment at least 5 weeks and conducted waitlist assessments, in order to control for the effects of time and assessment. Immediately before the Mindful Parenting course all 86 parents were (re)assessed.

After making sure all participants were aware of what they were being asked to do, and consented to the study, 27% of those who wanted to participate had to wait minimum 5 weeks to start the course. While they waited, they still underwent testing. This was done to make sure time and testing was taken into consideration in the results. Right before the course started, all the parents were tested or re-tested
Introduction
In addition to attentional biases, heightened stress in parents related to their own or their children´s mental disorder, their marital problems, or other sources, may also interfere with good parenting (Bögels et al. 2010). Under high stress, parents may revert to automatic, negative patterns of interaction with their child
Parents who experience higher levels of stress, whether that’s related to their child’s mental disorder, their personal problems in marriage, or other stressors can cause the ability to be a good parent to be more difficult. When a parent is under more stress, they may immediately revert to poor ways of interacting with their kids.
Results
After the Mindful Parenting intervention, significant reductions in target children’s internalizing were found, of medium effect size, and of children’s externalizing problems, of small effect size.
After parents took the Mindful Parenting course, a large decrease in the children’s inner problems (ex. emotional) were found, and less behavioural problems were found, however inner problems had a more noticeable reduction than behavioural problems.
Discussion
Although improvements on child psychopathology were only of small to medium effect size, it should be noted that this is an important effect taking into account the following two reasons.
Even though the improvements on emotional and behavioural as seen in the kids was small to moderate, it is still important to that a change was seen at all.
Future Directions
Future research should further separate mental health problems in children, such as ADHD, ODD, depression, anxiety, etc., in order to see if certain mental illnesses have greater responsivity to mindful parenting.
Difficult Material
First, I had a difficult time reading and digesting the paper because the wording is often complex, so I usually have to re-read passages. The most difficult part of the paper to understand was the results section, because they use many measurements that I didn’t fully understand.
